ABOUT THE BAND

JAZZ OMNIBUS was born several years ago in John Hill's garden shed and that is where we still meet to practice. You can imagine that this is a serious shed since we sometimes cram as many as twelve of us plus a substantial collection of musical instruments in there on a good day (hence, I suppose, the expression "jam session").

The band never sounds the same twice running since the members come when they can and the line-up varies. We have several capable substitutes who join us when needed. Apart from that, people double on different instruments from time to time - Dave Craven has been seen with a C melody sax and Alan Payne will play double bass with Sandra Skeffington on keyboard while John makes the coffee. Brass players are hard to come by so, if you play trumpet or trombone and live near Canterbury, please give us a call and come to see what we do.

What we have in common is a love of music and the enthusiasm to make our own sound. We'll play anything that swings and our song list is ever expanding.
